Ms Nicky Milsom

General Manager

As  General Manager of Magnetica Limited, Ms Milsom’s responsibilities cover overall operational responsibility for the company, managing the relationship with Magnetica’s Japanese multi national alliance partner and developing strategic partnerships with other global entities, in addition to strategic planning, industry analysis, and management of the company’s extensive IP.

Prior to joining Magnetica in January 2005, Ms Milsom held advisory roles with  State Government  in R&D management and Science & Technology policy (with the Chief Scientist, Peter Andrews, AO) and also at the University of Queensland (with Professor Paul Greenfield, AO). She has also held a role as an academic, teaching & researching innovation and commercialization at the University of Queensland.

She brings a track record in developing successful cross-sectoral, cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary partnerships, and in understanding the demands and cultures of government, industry and higher education institutions, as well as working in diverse teams that deliver.

At the University of Queensland, Ms Milsom worked on a number of major infrastructure projects including the Queensland Synchrotron team, QPSF, AIBN and IMB, and played a key role in developing relationships with government, industry and other universities.

She has a highly successful track record in managing the development and delivery of successful technology transfer programs between organisations in the education field (at the University of London School Examinations Board) and in engineering areas in Australia.

Ms Milsom brings to the company a unique blend of skills, complemented by her scientific background, hands on experience on a number of significant engineering projects, and general commercial experience and knowledge.  She holds a BSc Chemistry (Hons) (Sussex); Dip Ed (Ed Stats & Psychology) (Dist) (Lond) and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Queensland.
